My involvement in university leadership began during my undergraduate years, as founding member of the Association of Students of Commercial Studies and International Secretary and Editor of the University Students’ Council.
University leadership. Upon joining the UM, I served as Senate Representative on the Board of the Institute for Public Administration and Management. In 2017, I was appointed to a “Solutions” micro-team to reform the University’s ethics and data-protection review processes (risk-based, paperless). I have since served on the University of Malta Research Ethics Committee,. In 2018, I led staff consultations towards a sustainability strategy for the University. I subsequently became a founding member of the University’s Committee for Sustainability (C-SUM), serving until 2023. In 2021, I co-founded the MSc in Economics and have served as its coordinator since contributing to quality audits, annual student retreats and student welfare. I served on the Faculty’s PhD Committee, was active in the establishment of the SEA-EU alliance, and champion Open Science, Women in Science and Engaged Research at UM.
National leadership. I have served on a range of boards, advisory bodies and think tanks (e.g. the Health and Wellbeing Board of the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, the Malta Chamber of Scientists, the Housing Authority Residential Rent Observatory and the Public Policy Think Tank). I also chaired the Forum for Active Community Engagement and the Community Forum of the President’s Foundation.
Public sector. During my career in the public sector (Senior Officer, Team Manager, Unit Manager, Deputy Director), I led multidisciplinary teams responsible for research, public consultation, public education multilateral affairs. I regularly represented Malta in the Environmental Policy Review Group (EPRG), ENVECO and the Environmental Communication Network (ECN), and served as National Focal Point for the UNFCCC.
International leadership. I am the Executive Director of the Society for the Advancement of Behavioural Economics (SABE), having previously served on its Advisory Board and as Country Representative from 2017 to 2025. I served on scientific committees, hold journal editorial roles (e.g. Journal of Behavioral Economics and Policy, Applied Research in Quality of Life) and have been Guest Editor for several special issues. I regularly evaluate scholarly work and research-funding competitions.
In this document here, I provide a short list of my appointments on boards and committees as well as advisory and pro-bono work. I am happy to collaborate on similar work to further the impact of my research and build capacity in different contexts.
